Defence has been an area of focus in the last two years. In November 2020, an additional investment of £24bn in Defence over the next four years was announced, followed by the and publication of the Integrated Review and the Defence in a Competitive Age Command Paper, which set out the government’s vision for defence. The linked Defence and Security Industrial Strategy (DSIS) “aims to establish a more productive and strategic relationship between the government and the defence and security industries.” DSIS promotes and positions industry, government and academia to work closely together to drive research, enhance investment and promote innovation.

Reform of the regulations that govern defence and security procurement and single source contracts is also taking place with the goal of improving the speed of acquisition to similarly drive competition, innovation and productivity.

DPRTE 2022 will provide a unique and unrivalled interactive opportunity for academia, buyers and industry from across the defence procurement community to engage and network while benefiting from a range of innovative features designed for all participants to explore and work towards achieving today’s marketplace objectives.

Supply Chain and Industry

Over the next decade the Ministry of Defence is committed to spending over £186 billion on equipment and support. Defence has a major role to play in delivering the Government’s growth and enterprise agenda – the MOD accounts for over 40% of all central government spend with industry and its procurement activity includes some of the most complex and technologically advanced projects in the world.

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are the backbone of the UK economy, fuelling economic growth and providing more than 15 million jobs. At the MOD, SMEs also play a vital role in helping to deliver efficient, effective and affordable equipment, services and support for the Armed Forces.

DPRTE is a unique opportunity for suppliers to engage with defence acquisition and supply chain.
